Charis Lillene Fleshner is a conceptual artist who completed her MFA in studio art at the University of New Mexico. Before starting her MFA, Charis earned an MA in art and design from the University of Northern Colorado, studying abstract expressionist Joan Mitchell using a/r/tography research methodology and assisting student teachers in the art education program. She also taught art in Texas for 7 years before moving to her adopted home of Colorado. Her studio practice currently focuses on soft sculpture, expanded drawing, craftivism, and the intersections of feminism and art. Charis loves teaching art, snowy days, mountains, coffee, baking, long bike rides, and reading about intersectional feminism. She currently teaches art at Aims Community College in Greeley, Colorado and at the Denver Art Museum in Denver, Colorado.
